Scribes act as professional assistants to doctors and help them to deliver high quality patient care. And the main driving force of our whole operation is the scribes. There were no appropriate benefits for coming to work early. There are not any advance notices for sudden schedule changes. Your schedule is based off your doctor and if it goes to an extensive amount of hours there is nothing you can do about it, even if it goes past your scheduled time of working. When working your hours are insane, there were times where I would be working for 12 hours with only a 30-minute lunch break, if that, and not even time to go to the bathroom, and when I mentioned this to my manager he did nothing to fix it. Given that I am a full-time student who is in class the opposing days of working starting at 8 am that wouldn't work for me. And given that I had already had a set schedule with a doctor I was working with, I was told that if I don't change my schedule to 5 am (instead of 7 am, which I had been working), then I would be let go, with no other options. Not great management, for one, I was not given a decent amount of time of a warning to be told I was letting go. As a result of being in a large company, each branch of the company tends to take the other branches for granted which cultivates an environment of feeling underappreciated throughout the startup. The company is relatively large which also makes getting to everyone in the company difficult. On the flipside, the pay is not great and it will not financially sustain you enough to live in San Francisco. ![]() There are many employees with a variety of talents and personalities which makes finding a lifelong friend fairly easy. Other than the unparalleled experience to work with high caliber physicians, you may also find yourself connect with the people at Augedix. Over time, I came to understand the reasons why the clinician made the decision they made which fueled my passion for medicine. ![]() For me personally, I was lucky enough to be paired with a doctor who functions the same way I do which made scribing for them a whole lot easier. As a scribe, you will learn valuable medical terminology, understand the thought process of a doctor when they diagnose patients, and acquire mad typing skills. If you're a pre-health student, this is a great place to start gaining clinical experience.
